TEDxCMU Salon

Salon is TEDxCMU’s little engine that can. Currently comprised of four femmes of color, Salon crafts intimate spaces where members of Carnegie Mellon University can engage, speak, listen, converse, and celebrate each other and the Pittsburgh community. The beauty of Salon events is its flexibility, that is not confined to a singular format, which makes room for ideating exactly what the community needs. Over the years Salon has hosted poetry readings, student discussions, and TED Talks.

Last Spring (2022), Salon hosted TEDxFoodForThought, which celebrated Pittsburgh chefs, home cooks, and restauranteurs to talk about their cuisine and placemaking in Pittsburgh. The event also served as a tasting, where attendees were able to snack on each cuisine and learn about its dynamic connection to its respective speaker.  This event is brought to you by a team of dedicated organizers who are committed to creating a seamless and enjoyable experience for all attendees. From event planning and logistics to marketing and promotion, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that our event is one that you won't want to miss.

The most recent event was TEDxBIPOCJoy, that hosted student and local professional comedians in affinity with each other to laugh.
